The Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority (MRRA) team members and I started this project with a kickoff meeting. Like many locals, I casually referred to Brunswick Landing as “The Base.” My client nearly interrupted the phrase to demand, “10 bucks!” and pointed to the invisible kitty on the conference table with a wink. Indeed, the Landing had come a long way since its previous status as a US Navy base. MRRA had already helped more than a hundred new businesses get established there, and thousands of new jobs.

So the MRRA website needed an overhaul. In fact, it needed a brand position swap. Rather than continuing to present itself front and center as the redevelopment authority, it was time to brand the site for the business community it had fostered and continues to develop today. Brunswick Landing needed a site to show the benefits and members of this vibrant, growing community.

The logo for the new brand was based on the upcoming wayfinding project which will update all signage on the Landing. This will allow for brand continuity—in on-site signage and on the web.

Landing pages were established for each of Brunswick Landing’s featured industries:

  • Aviation & Aerospace
  • BioTech & Life Sciences
  • Advanced Materials & Composites
  • IT & Cybersecurity
  • CleanTech & Renewable Energy

And since Brunswick Landing is not all about business development, we also created landing pages for its air travel & transport facilities, its educational and training facilities, and its many options for housing, recreation, dining, transportation, healthcare, pet care, and more.

Using simple checkboxes to categorize news stories, business directory members, available properties, and eventually events, MRRA team members can post content and know it will automatically show where it’s relevant, such as available airport properties showing on the Air Travel & Transport landing page.

If Brunswick Landing is a town in itself, TechPlace is a village in that town. It gets its own subheading across pages showcasing the TechPlace shared amenities, available desk/office/industrial space, business directory and query forms.

In the process of creating the new Brunswick Landing brand in 2024, we also updated the TechPlace logo to work with the new color palette. The 2024 version more directly reflects the building it occupies on the Landing, and the subtle up arrow might be seen as a a symbol of growth, progress, or acceleration.

Using a simple toggle switch for each desk/office/manufacturing spage, the MRRA team can make a space “available yellow” and link to a page showcasing features and amenities. Shared amenities shown in blue are always clickable and lead to their own showcase pages.
